Buffkin Baker is pleased to partner with Southeast Georgia Health System as they seek their next Vice President of Finance.
The next Vice President of Finance for Southeast Georgia Health System must be a strategic and results-oriented finance leader with a proven ability to oversee and optimize the financial operations of a complex healthcare organization. The successful candidate will possess strong technical and professional accounting expertise, coupled with demonstrated experience developing and implementing financial and operational systems that enhance organizational performance, accountability, and decision-making. Experience directing finance teams, maintaining the integrity of financial records, and ensuring effective financial controls and reporting processes is essential.

Requirements
Reporting to the CFO, the Vice President, Finance is responsible for the System’s general business operations, accounting, accounts payable, payroll, cost accounting, decision support, and statistical reporting for all organizations of the Health System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees, directs and participates in the preparation of the monthly financial statements. Ensure that they are completed accurately each month by the identified deadline.
- Oversee and direct the daily/weekly/monthly system financial operations to provide accurate and timely preparation of core functions like payroll, AP, accounting, etc.
- Oversees continual monitoring of System’s A/R reserves with the accounting staff and in collaboration with Patient Financial Services.
- Oversees, directs and participates in the preparation of the annual Business Plan including the operating and capital budgets for the Health System for management and the Board of Directors. Reviews and analyzes the budget performance and identified variances; ensures effective cost control.
- Works in tandem with the CFO to provide advice and assistance to department managers/ directors in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting the information to their departments and/or physician groups.
- Works in tandem with the CFO to direct the institution's investment and banking needs in executing cash management decisions and works with the appropriate investment managers in coordinating fund transfers and monitoring investment performance.
- Works with SGPA key staff to identify financial reporting and financial management opportunities, meets with SGPA leaders on a routine basis.
- Evaluates the information system needs for the Finance department on an ongoing basis. Directs and participates in the development and execution of appropriate strategies and action plans to ensure the effective integration of the Accounting and Finance functions with the other Health System departments.
- Directs the timely completion of accurate information for external audits, examinations, and related projects for the Health System. Works with the CFO to monitor system financial internal controls.
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field.
- CPA certification required and MBA preferred.
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in health care and within a multi-site community health system, similar in size and scope to SGHS.
