This program immerses students in the philosophy, history, policy, and practice of wilderness stewardship, covering the most influential scholarship in the field.

Flexible Course Options

All courses can be completed remotely and asynchronously, allowing students to learn from anywhere and at their own pace. We also offer a 12-week course option with online class meetings.

Applications are also now open for our synchronous Fall 2026 course, American Wilderness Philosophy and Policy, which begins October 1. The course features weekly online discussions and opportunities to learn directly from leading wilderness scholars and practitioners. 

Undergraduate Course Options

We also offer all our wilderness courses in undergraduate versions. These courses earn undergraduate college credit and are open to all. These courses are perfect for current undergraduate students or working professionals without an undergraduate degree.
