Specialist, Incident Management and Operational Resiliency
Summary
The Specialist, Incident Management and Operational Resiliency plays a key role in leading enterprise incident response and strengthening operational resiliency across the organization. This role manages incidents from assessment through resolution, drives clear stakeholder communication, supports post-incident reviews and remediation, and helps advance governance, testing, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Incident Management
- Monitor and assess potential incidents across the enterprise
- Coordinate incident triage and escalation based on severity thresholds
- Activate response teams and escalation pathways as needed
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive resolution
- Provide ongoing updates on incident status, impact, and risk
- Manage incident calls and communication channels
- Ensure incidents are logged, tracked, and managed through resolution
- Provide clear, timely communication to stakeholders, leadership, and impacted business units
- Support regulatory, vendor, and client communications when needed
- Ensure adherence to incident management policies, standards, and procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation of timelines, decisions, and actions
- Support governance reporting, metrics, and performance analysis
- Help improve incident management processes and controls
- Support post-incident and after-action reviews
- Track remediation efforts through completion and validate effectiveness
- Help enhance incident management methodologies, playbooks, and templates
- Support testing, simulations, and scenario planning
- Partner with resilience, risk, and control teams to strengthen preparedness
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience in incident management, business continuity, disaster recovery, risk, or controls
- Strong understanding of incident management and operational processes across Northern Trust
- Ability to manage multiple incidents in a high-pressure environment
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working across cross-functional teams in a large, complex organization
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and incident reporting tools preferred
This role is part of a global team responsible for managing critical incidents on a 24x7 basis. Partners in this role are expected to lead incident response efforts outside standard business hours, including rotating holiday and weekend coverage.
Salary Range:
$130,530 - 228,380 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
