Our culture in Risk Management and Compliance is all about thinking outside the box, challenging the status quo and striving to be best-in-class.As the Risk Management Digital Assets Oversight Executive Director, you will lead second-line oversight for digital assets initiatives, with responsibility for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and mitigating risks across activities such as tokenized products, stablecoins, digital payments, and third-party services. You will partner closely with Chase Product Owners to evaluate and recommend effective fraud and scam controls for both new business launches and enhancements to existing payment flows.
Leveraging deep expertise in blockchain technology, tokenization platforms, stablecoins, and DeFi protocols, you will proactively identify potential risk scenarios, assess their impact and likelihood, and translate technical and product design decisions into clear risk positions and control requirements. As a key member of the Risk Oversight team's second line of defense, you will review product and feature designs, challenge where appropriate, and advise on robust, scalable controls to deliver secure, resilient customer experiences.
You will also manage and develop a small team of individual contributors, setting priorities, coaching talent, and ensuring consistent, high-quality risk outcomes.
In addition, you will collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Controls partners to address emerging issues, regulatory considerations, and control gaps, delivering timely, practical guidance. You will communicate key risks, control themes, and product challenges to senior leadership, helping shape strategy, inform decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across digital assets risk management.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform new activity / new product risk assessments for digital assets initiatives (e.g., custody launches, exchange connectivity, tokenization pilots).
- Understand both the traditional finance and digital asset processes and flows you oversee just as well as the Product team
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of controls that are used to mitigate inherent risk in digital assets and traditional finance digital payments
- Represent the interests of stakeholders in risk management
- Collaborate with the business to solve problems but escalates within the risk management framework when the business exposes the bank to risk in an unsafe way
- Remain abreast of new/changes in DeFi, payments, authentication, technology, and Digital financial services
- Deconstruct and explain complex concepts and issues in a business-friendly manner to senior/executive management
- Work effectively as a people manger and a collaborative team member on simultaneous projects
- Work well in a team environment, including cross-functional teams
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree and minimum of 10 years in a Risk function
- Minimum of 5 years managing teams
- Experience with digital assets and digital payments
- Strong understanding of blockchain concepts and smart contracts
- Demonstrated experience building or executing risk assessments and control frameworks in regulated financial services.
- Ability to defend positions and influence with quantitative analysis developed with an analytical team
- Ability to work effectively with both business and technically oriented individuals
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, and subject matter experts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
