Description
SummaryAt Wild Dunes Resort, a Hyatt Destination Hotel, the Assistant Director of Finance plays a key leadership role in supporting the Resort's financial integrity. This position oversees day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensures adherence to Hyatt's financial and service standards, and partners closely with the Director of Finance and resort leadership team to drive strong financial performance. The Assistant Director of Finance supports a culture of accountability, service excellence, and colleague development consistent with Hyatt values.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Month‑End Close
- Prepare, review, and analyze all journal entries, month‑end reports, and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with Hyatt corporate standards.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Review preliminary financial statements with the Director of Finance and provide insights for final reporting.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews and support the Director of Finance in presenting financial results to ownership and corporate leadership.
- Prepare accurate monthly and annual financial statements; lead variance analysis and involve department heads in meaningful review of operating results.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts in partnership with department leaders, ensuring alignment with Hyatt and Wild Dunes Resort goals.
- Monitor budget-to-actual results and provide detailed explanations and recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in long‑range financial planning and forecasting.
3. General Accounting & Fiscal Management
- Oversee daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, general ledger, inventories, payroll, and related financial processes.
- Manage on‑site and off‑site accounting activities to ensure proper fiscal governance and accurate reporting.
- Maintain systems administration duties, ensuring financial systems and controls align with Hyatt standards.
- Ensure timely monthly closings and full P&L responsibility for designated areas.
4. Internal Controls, Compliance & Audits
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls to support SOX compliance requirements and internal Company Audits.
- Implement corrective action plans when control gaps are identified.
- Lead internal audit preparation and participate fully in external audits, ensuring complete compliance with Hyatt corporate policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
5. Cash & Treasury Management
- Manage daily cash flow, banking activities, and treasury functions.
- Oversee bank statement reconciliations and ensure proper handling of all cash transactions.
6. Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Conduct financial analyses to support strategic initiatives, operational efficiencies, and revenue optimization opportunities.
- Provide proactive insights into performance trends, cost control measures, margin enhancement, and revenue growth.
- Support the Director of Finance with ad hoc financial requests, reporting needs, and special projects.
7. Leadership & Colleague Development
- Supervise the Accounting Team. Also supporting the Purchasing and Information Technology Colleagues, ensuring service excellence in line with Hyatt and Wild Dunes standards.
- Lead with Hyatt's People Philosophy by coaching, developing, and mentoring colleagues.
- Manage recruiting, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations for assigned colleagues.
- Foster a collaborative, engaged, and high‑performance work environment.
8. Cross‑Department Collaboration
- Partner with resort leaders to ensure alignment of operational and financial objectives.
- Clearly communicate financial information to non‑financial teams in a supportive and accessible manner.
- Act as a resource for department heads seeking guidance on budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and revenue opportunities.
9. Special Projects
- Participate in resort and corporate initiatives, business improvement efforts, technology upgrades, and other financial projects as assigned by the Director of Finance or senior leadership.
- Complete tasks assigned by the Director of Finance & Accounting and the Resort Controller as needed.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in Finance or Accounting, preferably within hospitality, retail, or a related service‑driven industry.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Experience supervising and developing staff, with proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead teams in a high‑performance environment.
- Working knowledge of hospitality systems, including POS (InfoGenesis), PMS (SMS, Opera), Yellow Dog, Oracle Financials, ADP/Enterprise, and Kronos; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds, consistent with Hyatt's People Philosophy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly present financial information to both financial and non‑financial audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook; advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v‑lookups, data analysis) highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment and consistently meet deadlines
