Position Description:
The Communications and Marketing Specialist III for Men's Basketball Visual Communications leads all visual storytelling, branding, and creative execution for the University of Louisville Men's Basketball program. This multi-disciplinary role leverages a wide variety of skills inclusive of graphic design, photography, and video production. This position oversees the conception, production, and delivery of high-impact multimedia content that elevates the program's identity, supports recruiting and NIL initiatives, and drives fan engagement across digital, in-venue, and institutional platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, direct, and produce professional-grade video content, including promotional reels, game and event highlights, player features, recruiting aids, and other program-driven storytelling initiatives.
- Conceptualize and execute all creative video needs for the men's basketball program, including pre-production planning, shooting, editing raw footage, and designing innovative visual content for use across multiple platforms, including in-game presentation, social media, web, and other digital channels.
- Maintain a comprehensive and well-organized library of game and highlight film, including metadata tagging and archival best practices. Oversee student video staff with a focus on post-production workflows, technical development, and adherence to program standards.
- Execute photography and graphic design projects across digital and print platforms, ensuring visual consistency with university and athletics brand standards.
- Lead creative strategy for targeted recruiting campaigns by developing customized visuals and narratives for high-school and transfer prospects. Support on campus recruiting experiences through photoshoots, presentations, and immersive visual storytelling.
- Design and curate custom, exclusive program apparel and equipment for the team and targeted student-athletes, collaborating directly with the program's sideline apparel partner (adidas) and internal stakeholders.
- Manage creative project flow from ideation through delivery, including scripts, shoot coordination, editing timelines, and final distribution across photography, videography, and graphic design projects.
- Partner with coaches and athletic department staff to lead facility branding and design initiatives from concept through installation. Create mockups aligned with university standards, manage vendor relationships, and oversee production and execution.
- Maintain strong communication and cross-functional collaboration with coaching staff, athletics communications, marketing, compliance, and external partners.
- Mentor colleagues and student creatives to help shape and maintain consistent creative standards for the men's basketball brand.
- Track performance metrics and audience engagement data to inform content strategy, optimize storytelling approaches, and support data-driven creative decisions.
- Work alongside Athletics Creative, Social, and Sports Information to align content strategy, amplify key narratives, and maximize audience engagement.
- Coordinate and communicate closely with the Sports Information Director and Athletics Marketing and Creative staff to align creative content with overall messaging, storytelling priorities, and brand positioning for the men's basketball program. Provide creative input that influences visual identity, tone, and narrative consistency across media relations, digital platforms, and external storytelling efforts.
- Manage scheduling and coordination with targeted student-athletes for creative projects, including photoshoots, video productions, recruiting content, and branded storytelling initiatives. Ensure efficient planning that respects student-athlete time commitments while meeting creative and program needs.
- Execute and produce Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activations involving men's basketball student-athletes as needed. Collaborate with internal NIL staff, external partners, and student-athletes to create compliant, high-quality visual content that supports approved NIL opportunities while reinforcing program and university brand standards.
- Serves as a creative leader and strategic partner within the men's basketball program and the broader athletics department. This role sets the visual standard for the historic program, influences brand perception among recruits, fans, and national audiences, and plays a critical role in shaping how the Louisville Men's Basketball story is told, cultivated, and valued.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Six (6) years of working experience with a collegiate or professional men's basketball program in the capacity of a videographer.
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficient knowledge of post-production editing systems.
- Proficient knowledge of camera operation, lighting schematics, and the ability to shoot and edit field and studio assignments at a high level.
- Ability to provide routine maintenance of equipment, backup digital content, log, and catalog raw footage.
- Effective administrative and organizational skills and ability to prioritize time-sensitive tasks and projects according to deadlines.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
